CZ Predicts On-Chain IPO Surge as Infrastructure Matures
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao believes that initial public offerings (IPOs) will soon move on-chain, and it appears he's not alone in this assessment. The infrastructure for on-chain IPOs is already live and regulated, with some deals having gone through successfully.
Zhao mentioned that three key changes come with on-chain IPOs: access comes first, as tokenized offerings can open to retail buyers on day one; timing becomes more flexible, as tokenized venues quote around the clock; and size is no longer a limitation, as shares divide natively into small fractions.
The cost of traditional listings also decreases with automation removing part of the chain. However, ownership remains an essential consideration, as listed products may track share prices without granting shareholder rights.
