CZ Predicts On-Chain IPOs Will Disrupt Wall Street
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao thinks on-chain IPOs are inevitable and will disrupt traditional Wall Street practices. In his recent post on X, CZ noted that IPOs would eventually move to blockchain-based platforms. This prediction comes as Wall Street sees a surge in tokenized real-world assets.
The growth of Binance's bStocks platform is a prime example of this trend. Launched on June 11, the platform reached a market capitalization of over $500 million on July 29, less than seven weeks after its launch. The platform currently holds 56 tokens, with SNDKB, SPCXB, MUB, CRCLB, and SOXLB having the largest allocations.
On-chain models could streamline traditional IPO processes by representing shares as digital tokens on a blockchain. This would allow investors to obtain ownership records virtually instantaneously, and smart contracts might automate some settlement, compliance, and corporate actions. The shift could also open up the market to public investors who don't have access to traditional brokerage platforms.
