Czech Bitcoin Case Exposes Lawyer-Tech Programmer Fee Frenzy
The high-profile 'bitcoin case' in the Czech Republic has shed new light on the financial relationship between programmer Tomáš Jiřikovský and his lawyer Karim Tic. According to a 420-page indictment, the exact size of the lawyer's fee remains unclear.
Intercepted phone calls mention wildly different figures, ranging from tens of millions of crowns to a full billion.
In one conversation, Jiřikovský's sister reassures their mother that Tic would not have taken on the case for a mere fraction of the total sum: 'Mom, that's not how it works for a billion, he got a third, otherwise no one would have done it.'
Jiřikovský himself tells relatives in another intercepted conversation that under the law Tic is entitled to a percentage of two billion crowns, and 'at the moment that comes to more than forty million.'
