Dango's perpetual decentralized exchange (DEX) will shut down on Wednesday and cease operations by August 13. The Layer-1 blockchain project launched its mainnet in January after securing a $3.6 million seed round, but was unable to achieve commercial success.

The team behind Dango cited cash shortages, legal challenges, and the loss of key members as contributing factors to their decision. Dango's founder, Larry Liu, acknowledged that the project faced numerous difficulties, including broader market conditions.

The perp DEX market is highly competitive, with a few major players dominating the space. Hyperliquid, for example, held over $11 billion in open interest on Saturday, dwarfing Dango's total value locked of approximately $1.6 million.
