Dashjr Departs OCEAN Mining Pool Amid Differing Visions for Bitcoin's Future
Luke Dashjr, co-founder of OCEAN mining pool and Bitcoin developer, has left his positions as Chairman, Chief Technology Officer, and director by mutual agreement with the company. The separation was announced on August 29, 2026, after recent protocol developments led to differing visions for the future of Bitcoin mining.
OCEAN, operated by Mummolin, Inc., will continue serving miners through its transparent, non-custodial mining pool, while Dashjr plans to pursue a new venture called CONVOY. The mission of CONVOY is described as continuing what Dashjr started at OCEAN: decentralizing Bitcoin mining.
The joint statement did not disclose further details about what prompted the differing visions for the future of Bitcoin mining. However, it emphasized that OCEAN will continue operating as before and serving miners through its transparent and non-custodial structure.
