Dashjr Exits OCEAN Pool Amid 'Different Visions' on Bitcoin Protocol
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has left OCEAN mining pool after it bought out his ownership and three leadership roles. The company repurchased all of his equity, but did not disclose the price or its new ownership structure. According to a joint statement, the separation was due to 'different visions' following recent protocol developments.
OCEAN still represents a significant share of Bitcoin's hash power, with 2.45% of trailing-day blocks and 2.88% across the trailing week. The pool has continued to operate transparently, but its future is uncertain as some miners may follow Dashjr to his new venture, CONVOY.
CONVOY has not yet disclosed any details about its operations or policies, including block-template choices or fees. The company's public profile and announcement statement did not provide any information about endpoint codebase, participating miners, infrastructure, or staff transfers from OCEAN.
