Dashjr Exits OCEAN Pool Amid Protocol Developments

Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has left his position as chairman, chief technology officer, and director at OCEAN mining pool after a buyout by the company. The repurchase deal, announced on August 29, gave OCEAN full ownership of Dashjr's equity, effectively ending his leadership roles.

The separation was attributed to differing visions following recent protocol developments, although no specific proposal or change was named in the joint statement. OCEAN has added support for BIP-110 and other endpoints, while also allowing participating miners to control block construction through its DATUM system.

Despite the buyout, OCEAN's hash power remains relatively stable, with estimates suggesting it still controls around 2.45% of the network's hashrate. The pool has continued to operate its transparent and non-custodial mining service, while Dashjr is reportedly working on a new venture called CONVOY.
