Dashjr Ousted as BIP Editor Amid Allegations of Favoritism
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has been removed as an editor of Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs) following a dispute over his involvement in BIP 110. The decision was made after Mark Erhardt, another developer, opened a pull request on the Bitcoin Developer mailing list recommending Dashjr's removal.
Evidence cited by Erhardt showed that Dashjr had been heavily involved in creating and implementing BIP 110, which aimed to restrict arbitrary data embedded in Bitcoin transactions. Erhardt alleged that Dashjr unfairly favored the proposal while serving as an editor, including assigning it a BIP number before mailing-list discussion and quickly merging updates.
Jon Atack verified that Dashjr no longer had editor or administrator privileges in the BIPs repository after the mailing-list discussion, and subsequently merged Erhardt's pull request to remove Dashjr from the list of editors. In response, Dashjr claimed it was 'an abuse of power by Core,' stating they have no authority to do so.
