Dashjr Ousted from Bitcoin Proposal Role Amid Minority Fork Dispute
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has been removed from his role as an editor of Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs) after a dispute over his handling of BIP 110. The proposal aimed to create a minority fork of the Bitcoin blockchain, but it stalled and developers raised concerns about Dashjr's involvement in its creation and implementation.
Mark Erhardt, another Bitcoin developer, opened a pull request on Sunday recommending Dashjr's removal as an editor due to his 'heavy' involvement with BIP 110. According to Erhardt, Dashjr unfairly favored the proposal while serving as an editor by attempting to assign it a BIP number before discussion and quickly merging an update to it.
The decision to remove Dashjr from his position was made after developers raised concerns about his role in BIP 110. The move aims to ensure that editors remain impartial in their handling of proposals, allowing for more transparent and democratic processes within the Bitcoin community.
