DCG Demands Senate Pass CLARITY Act Before August Recess Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
DCG, a leading crypto investment firm with over 250 portfolio companies, is urging Senate leadership to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) before the August recess. In a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, DCG President Mark Murphy warned that regulatory uncertainty is driving innovation and capital offshore.
The CLARITY Act would create a statutory framework for digital-asset regulation and establish clear lines between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) jurisdiction. According to Murphy, 'regulatory uncertainty is driving innovation and capital offshore' at an 'alarming pace', with companies choosing jurisdictions like Singapore, Abu Dhabi, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates.
The cost of delay for the CLARITY Act is not limited to business decisions, Murphy emphasized. He wrote that it would result in 'jobs that never materialize, companies that relocate, and a generation of technological leadership that moves offshore.'
