The video shows Carney supposedly saying that Canada will become richer than America by 2030 due to its freshwater resources, and encouraging viewers to visit wwr.global to invest in the cryptocurrency. But this is entirely fabricated, and the real declaration made by Carney does not include any mention of 'freshwater reserves' or 'wwr.global'.

Reverse image searches reveal that the clip is actually from a speech given by Carney on August 22, where he explained why Canada suspended trade talks with the United States. The deepfake appropriation of his persona has been used to promote a memecoin investment, which experts say can be highly volatile due to its connection to online attention.

Hubert Pun, a professor at Western University's Ivey Business School, warns that investing in these types of cryptocurrencies is risky, as they are often associated with scams. He recommends avoiding smaller sites and sticking to large crypto exchanges like Coinbase, which lists World Water Reserve Price (WWR) and United States Water Reserve Price (USWR) as 'unreviewed' assets.
