DeFi Technologies CEO Addresses Share Price Decline
DeFi Technologies CEO Johan Wattenström addressed shareholders regarding the company's performance and share price decline. He acknowledged that management takes the issue seriously, feeling the impact alongside other shareholders.
The share price is highly correlated with crypto market levels and activity, which in turn correlates with assets under management, a key driver of revenue. Wattenström attributed the primary drivers of share price performance to a weak crypto market, sector rotation out of crypto equities, and technical factors related to the company's capital raise.
He noted that while the current bear market is challenging, DeFi Technologies is better positioned than in the previous cycle. The company delivered record revenue and net income in 2025, has a strong balance sheet with $150 million as of Q1, is profitable, and has effectively zero debt.
The CEO expressed confidence in the company's trajectory, stating that success in strong market regimes is defined by hard work during downturns. He mentioned plans to scale arbitrage strategies, launch new products, and pursue high-value acquisitions.
