DeFi Technologies' Stock Price Plunges Amid Crypto Market Volatility
DeFi Technologies is facing significant challenges despite its impressive financial performance. The company posted record revenue and profit for 2025, holds roughly $150 million in capital reserves, carries virtually no debt, yet its shares trade at €0.3794, an 84% plunge from the 52-week high of €2.46 set just last July.
The disconnect between DeFi Technologies' financial health and its stock price is striking. CEO Johan Wattenström has acknowledged that the company's shares are tightly correlated with the broader crypto market, with its assets under management acting as the direct revenue driver.
The recent rejection of DeFi Technologies' planned UCITS structure for crypto-linked investment products by Sweden's FSA was a significant blow. While the company has appealed the decision and is building its UCITS infrastructure elsewhere in the European Union, the governance dynamic revealed at the annual general meeting for 2026 is cause for concern.
All board candidates were elected and all resolutions passed, including a reverse stock split approved by 73.271% of votes cast. However, CEO Wattenström received only 75.602% approval, which is notably lower than his colleagues. This sends a governance signal that warrants attention, particularly when the stock has already lost the vast majority of its value.
