DefiLlama Halts Mobile App Launch Over Phishing Apps on Apple Store

DefiLlama's mobile app launch was delayed due to the presence of phishing apps on Apple Store, said the company's founder.

According to 0xngmi, DefiLlama waited until all fake apps were removed before launching its own mobile app to avoid user scams. The team tried for months to get one malicious app taken down but Apple acted quickly once they documented a small wallet being drained.

The phishing apps impersonated major crypto brands, including Rabby Wallet and Curve Finance in 2024. In November 2023, a fake Ledger Live app on the Microsoft Store resulted in $588,000 stolen across 38 transactions.
