DeFiLlama Mobile App Delayed as Founder Takes Unprecedented Step Against Phishing Apps
DeFiLlama's mobile version has been delayed due to phishing apps on the App Store. Despite reports from the official team, Apple failed to take significant action.
The founder, 0xngmi, submitted requests to remove trademark infringement and impersonation apps for months but received no concrete response. He then took an unprecedented step by becoming a 'decoy.'
He prepared a test wallet with a small amount of cryptocurrency, downloaded a fake DeFiLlama app from the App Store, and connected the wallet.
The attackers had purchased names of defunct corporations to fake identity verification (KYC) and pass the review process. The DeFiLlama team decided to postpone the release until all fake apps were eliminated.
