DeFi's total value locked (TVL) dipped to $75.12 billion last week, marking a modest decline of 0.3% from the previous week's $75.31 billion. According to DefiLlama data dated August 7, this represents a significant retrenchment in liquidity since earlier in the year, with TVL levels now about 34% lower than their year-to-date peak.

Ethereum (ETH) maintained its dominance in DeFi, accounting for approximately 55.13% of the total TVL at $41.41 billion. BNB Chain (BSC) trailed behind at $4.88 billion, followed by Tron (TRX) and Solana (SOL), both with around $4.8 billion.

While on-chain usage remained relatively robust, the market as a whole has become more cautious in capital deployment, favoring established venues over newer ecosystems. Bitcoin's DeFi-related TVL dropped 11% last week, while other networks like Provenance and Plasma also saw declines.
