Delaware County Rejects Compass Mining Rezone Bid Amid Noise Complaints
The Delaware County Zoning Board in Iowa denied Compass Mining's bid to rezone its property from agricultural to light industrial status.
The company, which provides Bitcoin mining hardware, operates a facility west of Hopkinton and initially listed the operation as an agriculture operation.
Residents voiced concerns about noise and other impacts from the facility, saying it has been a constant noise nuisance since opening.
Amy Krapfl, who lives near the Compass Mining facility, told the board that 'this is not normal, agricultural noise. It is not seasonal. The noise is constant.'
