Democrats CounterGOP's Revised CLARITY Act With Last-Minute Proposal
Senate Democrats are pushing back against the GOP's latest offer on the CLARITY Act with their own counterproposal. This comes just hours before a key procedural vote, according to reports.
The Republicans had described their revised bill text as their 'last, best and final offer' when they released it on Sunday. However, some Democrats remain unsatisfied with the crypto ethics provisions in the latest version of the bill.
A meeting was held in Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's office on Monday, where Democrats working on the bill were preparing a counterproposal. Senator Mark Warner told Politico that 'The Democrats who've been working on this in good faith are sending a counterproposal.'
