Democrats Gear Up for Crypto Probe into Trump's $1.4 Billion Gains
Democrats are gearing up to investigate President Donald Trump's cryptocurrency connections if they retake control of Congress in the November midterm elections. According to Bloomberg Government, key committee leaders have signaled their intentions to dig deeper into Trump's crypto ventures, which netted him $1.4 billion during his first year back in office.
Rep. Brad Sherman (Calif.), the top Democrat on the House's subcommittee on capital markets, stated that he 'can't imagine' anything else they'd want to investigate more than Trump's crypto ties.
The president's crypto ventures have been a central focus of Democratic efforts to rein in Trump and his family. Democrats have questioned whether Trump's memecoin launch was an illegal scam, issued staff reports criticizing him as the 'Bitcoin president,' and held public forums probing 'Trump's crypto corruption.'
However, these efforts have yielded few concrete answers so far, said Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.), vice ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee.
