Denmark's Penning Platform Wins Authorization for Cross-Border Crypto Operations

Penning Financial Services ApS is a Copenhagen-based platform for trading and holding crypto-assets. It was founded by Hasan Surtiwala, Jimmie Hansen Steinbeck, and Martin J. H. Jessen in February 2024.

In January 2026, Penning received authorization from Finanstilsynet, the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). The authorization covers seven of the ten licensable crypto-asset services, including portfolio management.

Penning uses this single license to operate across 30 EU/EEA states through a process called 'passporting'.
