Deribit has secured a license from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), marking another step in Coinbase's integration of its derivatives platform into a broader trading ecosystem.

The VARA licence will allow eligible Deribit users to access spot markets through Coinbase Exchange, providing deeper liquidity and a wider selection of digital assets. This integration is part of Coinbase's effort to combine spot and derivatives trading into a unified platform.

Coinbase says the upgraded platform will feature a faster matching engine, broader product coverage, and a stronger risk-management framework. The company plans to add over 125 new perpetual contracts to the combined platform, including contracts linked to equities and commodities.
