Deribit Taps Coinbase Liquidity with Dubai Broker Dealer Licence
Deribit, a prominent derivatives exchange, has secured a Broker Dealer Licence from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), enabling it to route spot orders through Coinbase Exchange. This development builds on Deribit's existing VARA Exchange Service licence, which was granted in January 2025.
The new approval adds Coinbase's centralized orderbook to Deribit's execution options, potentially delivering tighter spreads and deeper liquidity for its clients. Traders may also benefit from a broader selection of digital assets and the ability to use purchased assets as collateral for derivatives trading, subject to regulatory approval.
Deribit's expanded service targets retail, qualified, and institutional investors, aiming to support crypto adoption and increase institutional access in the region. The move is seen as bullish for Deribit's spot trading business and may have significant implications for the broader cryptocurrency market.
