Derivatives Duel: ApeX Protocol Takes on Kwenta in Crypto Market
The cryptocurrency derivatives market has seen two notable platforms emerge in recent years: ApeX Protocol and Kwenta. While both offer unique features, they also have their drawbacks.
ApeX Protocol has been operational since 2022 without any reported security incidents or loss of user funds. One of its key advantages is the absence of gas costs for users, making it an attractive option for those looking to trade cryptocurrencies with leverage up to 100x on major assets like BTC and ETH.
However, ApeX Protocol has significantly lower trading volume compared to market leaders and thinner order books in secondary markets. Additionally, it does not have EU authorization, which may be a concern for some traders.
Kwenta, on the other hand, offers synthetic perpetuals from the Synthetix ecosystem, giving users access to more than 40 tracked assets. It also retains existing trading functionality during the transition and has low network fees on Optimism. However, Kwenta's native token is set to cease to exist as a result of its acquisition by Synthetix, and its fees are significantly higher than those of ApeX Protocol.
