Diamond Backs Clarity Act: Banks to Benefit from Blockchain
Former Barclays CEO Bob Diamond has publicly endorsed the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States. Contrary to the banking industry's opposition, Diamond believes the legislation would ultimately benefit banks.
Diamond emphasized that the world's largest financial institutions are already investing heavily in blockchain-based finance, with companies like JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of New York at the forefront.
He cited several advantages of blockchain technology, including 24-hour trading, instantaneous settlement, and transparency through a permanent record of every transaction. According to Diamond, these features would improve market efficiency by delivering services at a fraction of the cost with deeper liquidity.
