Disrupting Stablecoin Revenue: Open Standard Unveils Shared Payment Infrastructure
Open USD (OUSD) is a US dollar stablecoin announced by Open Standard, a consortium of over 140 companies including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, and Coinbase. Unlike other stablecoins, OUSD uses a shared economics model where partners share reserve yield instead of one issuer keeping it all.
The project counts more than 140 companies as partners, making it one of the most heavily backed stablecoin launches to date. Open USD is designed to be used as shared payment infrastructure rather than a single-issuer token.
As of August 2026, OUSD has not launched for public trading and carries no live market price yet. However, Circle's stock fell sharply on the announcement, signaling how seriously markets took the launch.
