DJT Stock Plummets as Trump Media Digs Deeper into Bitcoin
DJT Stock Falls as Trump Media Reports Quarterly Loss and Large Bitcoin Purchase
The shares of Trump Media & Technology Group (NASDAQ: DJT) plummeted by 8.03% to $9.39 on Thursday, following the company's latest quarterly loss and a significant increase in its Bitcoin holdings.
The decline came after Trump Media reported a substantial net loss of $238.1 million for the second quarter of 2026, more than ten times the $20 million loss recorded a year earlier. The company's quarterly revenue, however, increased to $1.7 million from $0.9 million.
In a move that is likely to raise eyebrows in the crypto community, Trump Media added 4,661.84 Bitcoin to its treasury, bringing its total holdings to 12,061.66 BTC. This purchase increases the company's position among publicly traded companies holding Bitcoin and flips Elon Musk's Tesla.
The company's decision to invest in digital assets has resulted in large unrealized losses on its balance sheet, which contributed to the wider quarterly loss. Excluding unrealized losses, taxes, interest, and other items, Trump Media recorded a $164 million operating loss, compared with $44 million a year earlier.
