DMCC Tokenises World's Largest Silver Bar
The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has launched a novel project that tokenises a 1,971-kg silver bar, the world's largest. The physical asset, with 99.9 percent purity and listed in Guinness World Records, is now available as an ARVA (asset-referenced virtual asset) on BNB Chain. Eligible investors, including individuals, can access fractional digital stakes through Tokinvest, a crypto platform regulated by VARA.
The project combines physical precious metals with blockchain technology and a regulatory framework. The DMCC CEO Ahmed bin Sulayem stated that the plan presented in November 2025 had moved into the execution stage. Paul Boots, who oversees sector development at VARA, called it a model combining commercial infrastructure, regulated crypto issuance, institutional custody, and blockchain technology.
Tokinvest co-founder and CEO Scott Thiel noted that silver bar investment has been an asset class difficult for individual investors to access. With this project, eligible investors can now buy a portion of the stake within a regulated framework. Regulated secondary market trading is expected to begin after the initial issuance, subject to regulatory and platform requirements.
