DOGE Holders Warned: Hardware Wallets May Not Be As Secure As You Think
Earlier this month, a Dogecoin community contributor known as Mishaboar shed light on the hidden vulnerabilities of hardware wallets. According to him, many investors overlook a crucial fact: hardware wallets don't store coins themselves but rather the keys that provide access to them. If the hardware is compromised, the assets are doomed.
Mishaboar emphasized that simply disconnecting a computer from the internet does not guarantee safety unless the hardware itself is fully isolated. Even if an operating system is infected with malware, the lack of an internet connection will only delay the theft of funds.
To maximize DOGE safety amid the hardware crisis, Mishaboar recommends combining several security methods. For non-technical users, he suggests three basic steps: splitting balances across devices from different transparent and reputable brands, enabling a passphrase, and keeping physical backups offline.
