DOGE Investors Face New Risks: Hardware Wallets and Seed Phrase Generation Under Scrutiny
Investors of Dogecoin (DOGE) are facing a serious test as they try to protect their assets from hacking threats. In August, a leading contributor to the DOGE community, Mishaboar, shed light on the hidden vulnerabilities associated with hardware wallets and seed phrase generation.
Mishaboar emphasized that simply disconnecting a computer from the internet is not enough to create a secure wallet. He pointed out that wallets do not store coins themselves but rather the keys that grant access to them. If the hardware used to create those keys is compromised, investors are at risk of losing their assets.
Some investors try to avoid hardware-related risks by generating seed phrases using offline tools on ordinary PCs. However, Mishaboar warned that this method provides only an illusion of security unless the hardware itself is fully isolated. Even if the operating system is infected with malware, the lack of internet connection will only delay the theft of funds.
To maximize DOGE safety, Mishaboar recommends combining several security methods, including splitting balances across devices from different reputable brands, enabling a passphrase, and keeping physical backups offline.
