Dogecoin Co-Founder Proposes $1.2 Trillion Stimulus in Meme Coin
Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus has proposed an unconventional stimulus idea. Instead of sending Americans $5,000 stimulus checks, he suggests the U.S. government could buy $1.2 trillion worth of Dogecoin and distribute it to citizens.
This proposal came after President Donald Trump pledged to give every adult a $5,000 'dividend' if Republicans win the November midterm elections.
Economists have warned that one-off stimulus payments can fuel inflation by increasing demand faster than the economy's ability to supply goods and services.
Markus' idea is largely seen as tongue-in-cheek, but it raises questions about the feasibility of buying such a large amount of Dogecoin. The current market value of Dogecoin is around $13.2 billion, making a $1.2 trillion purchase more than 90 times its current market value.
