Dogecoin-Funded Satellite Successfully Reaches Lunar Orbit

The Dogecoin-1 satellite, funded entirely in DOGE, successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center on September 14, 2026. This historic mission marks the first time a cryptocurrency has been used to fund a space mission.

The DOGE-1 satellite is a 12U CubeSat developed by Geometric Energy Corporation, a Calgary-based space firm. It will collect lunar-spatial data using onboard cameras and sensors and beam images back to Earth for up to two years.

SpaceX accepted the payment in full, making it the first crypto-funded space mission in history. The mission's scientific outcome carries little bearing on Dogecoin's fundamentals, as DOGE was only used as a payment method for the launch contract.
