Dogecoin Surges Amidst Market Declines, Challenges Bearish Trend
Dogecoin has emerged as an outlier in the top 20 cryptocurrencies by recording a notable increase in its 24-hour trading volume, unlike most other major assets which saw declining activity.
According to recent market data, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and BNB all experienced declines ranging from about 35% to over 45%, while Bitcoin's trading volume fell by more than 55%. In contrast, Dogecoin's daily volume increased to around $1.55 billion, marking a 92.7% increase in trading activity.
The price chart demonstrates that DOGE spent several weeks consolidating close to the $0.07 support area before the abrupt spike in activity. Buyers intervened, raising the token by nearly 6%, enabling it to return to the 50-day moving average.
Derivative data also paints a positive picture, with open interest rising by more than 4% over the last 24 hours and long-to-short ratios favoring bullish positioning on major exchanges. However, futures flow data indicates net inflows over the 4-, 8-, and 12-hour time frames, suggesting increasing optimism among derivatives traders.
Despite these positive signs, Dogecoin still faces significant technical obstacles to overcome, including a bearish market structure as evidenced by the ongoing downward trend of its short-term moving averages.
