Dogecoin's Long Shot: Can It Reach $1 Before 2026?
Launched in 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, Dogecoin (DOGE) is a cryptocurrency that started as a joke. Despite its lack of purpose or organic demand, it surged to $0.73 in 2021 with a market capitalization of over $90 billion. However, speculative frenzies never last, and the token has since lost 90% of its peak value.
One major issue plaguing Dogecoin's value is its adoption problem. Unlike other cryptocurrencies like XRP, Ethereum, and Solana, which have specific use cases or payment networks, Dogecoin was created without a particular purpose in mind. As a result, it lacks a sustainable source of demand.
Another problem is that Dogecoin has an infinite supply due to its mining mechanism, similar to Bitcoin's. However, while Bitcoin has a capped supply of 21 million coins, Dogecoin's supply has no limit, which could lead to dilution and a decline in value over time.
