DOJ Seizes $560K in Crypto Allegedly Bound for Hamas
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency that was allegedly bound for Hamas. The funds were taken from addresses promoted to supporters through an encrypted group chat and a fundraising website.
According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, the seizure is 'a massive blow' to Hamas, which was designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the US.
Pirro noted that the DOJ has also obtained the names and identities of thousands of individuals who attempted to donate money to Hamas through intercepted transactions.
