DOJ Seizes $560K in Cryptocurrency Allegedly Meant for Hamas
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the seizure of over $560,000 in cryptocurrency allegedly intended for Hamas, a designated terrorist organization. The funds were intercepted through court-authorized seizures and the disruption of online recruitment websites connected to Hamas.
According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, 'A message to Hamas: We will stop your fundraising for terror.' She added that the operation was a 'massive blow against foreign terrorism' that would disrupt Hamas' online recruitment efforts.
The seizure of cryptocurrency and disruption of online infrastructure were made possible through human sources providing information on three separate occasions in March, June, and October 2025. The FBI also identified and seized domains and servers used by the group, allowing them to intercept cryptocurrency donations intended for Hamas.
Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg stated that these seizures 'deprive Hamas of resources it relies on to recruit and radicalize individuals online and finance barbaric attacks.'
