Dollar Falters After Strong NFP Report
The US dollar failed to sustain its gains following the release of a stronger-than-expected employment report. The data showed that the economy added 162,000 jobs, exceeding expectations of 56,000, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1% and previous employment figures were revised higher.
Despite the initial spike in the dollar, it subsequently gave back most of its gains as investors seemed to temper their enthusiasm for a potential Federal Reserve interest rate hike.
The slower-than-expected wage growth contributed to this subdued market reaction, suggesting that even robust employment data may not be enough to drive a sustained repricing of expectations for Fed policy.
