Dollar Soars as Geopolitical Tensions Send Crypto Prices Lower

Share

The US dollar is experiencing its strongest weekly performance in a month, rising between 0.37% and 0.73% as investors flock to traditional safe havens amid escalating geopolitical tensions.

The DXY, which measures the dollar's value against a basket of other currencies, traded between 101.1 and 101.4 during the week of July 20-24, a modest but significant move that indicates where global capital is being directed at present.

This rally is largely driven by US airstrikes on Iran in July 2026, which have historically sent investors running towards the greenback. Military escalation in the Middle East has consistently led to a dollar bid, and this time is no exception.

The energy market is also contributing to the dollar's appeal, with volatile oil prices creating uncertainty that reinforces the dollar's value due to its role as the global currency for pricing oil.
