Doppler Finance Brings Institutional DeFi to Coinbase's Base with cbXRP Support
Doppler Finance has expanded its institutional-grade yield infrastructure protocol to Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 chain, Base, supporting cbXRP as its first asset. This move enables XRP holders to access DeFi lending, borrowing, and collateral strategies on a regulated exchange-backed platform.
cbXRP is a wrapped version of XRP, allowing users to convert their XRP into an ERC-20 token on Base, where Coinbase locks the XRP and issues cbXRP at a 1:1 ratio. This infrastructure expansion is a significant step towards making major non-EVM assets natively productive on Base.
Doppler Finance's Head of Institutions, Rox Park, described this move as a structural shift in tokenized finance, requiring infrastructure that extends beyond any single blockchain. The expansion to Base marks the first time Doppler's infrastructure is available to the broader DeFi ecosystem, starting with cbXRP support and planning additional tokenized assets for later phases.
As the XRP price dropped 1.2% overnight, falling to $1.08 after losing support at $1.10, this news may be seen as a positive development by some investors. However, it's essential to note that Doppler Finance has indicated cbXRP is just the first asset in its Base rollout, with support for additional tokenized assets coming as the ecosystem matures.
