Dormant Bitcoin Activity Surges Amidst Coldcard Exploit Fears

The first ten days of August have seen a significant surge in dormant Bitcoin movements, with 2,209 BTC moved, 74.7% more than all of July. This increase in activity is largely attributed to addresses from 2010 to 2017, which is nearly three times higher than the daily movement rate in July. The recent Coldcard wallet exploit has raised speculation that long-term holders may be consolidating or migrating funds for security reasons. However, no direct link has been confirmed.

The pattern suggests coordinated wallet sweeps rather than panic selling, as Bitcoin prices remain stable and slightly rising during this period. This increase in activity is a notable development, particularly given the recent events surrounding the Coldcard exploit.
