The dormant Bitcoin market has seen an unexpected surge in activity this August, outpacing all of July's numbers. According to data from Btcparser.com, a total of 2,209.05 BTC moved from long-inactive addresses during the first 10 days of the month, already exceeding July's full-month figure of 1,264.16 BTC. This represents an increase of 74.7% over July's totals.

The daily pace has also accelerated significantly, with August averaging 220.91 BTC in dormant transfers per day, compared to just 40.78 BTC in July. Transaction activity has also increased, with 85 dormant spends recorded through August 10, up from just 30 during the same period last month.

The increase is partly attributed to concentrated wallet activity, with addresses created in 2014 accounting for a large portion of the total. However, even after removing suspected clusters, there remains a significant amount of activity, with 1,215.15 BTC across 33 August spends still exceeding July's daily rate.
