Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Awakens, Transfers $3.2M to FalconX Address
A Bitcoin wallet that had been inactive since 2011 suddenly moved nearly 50 BTC to an address linked to institutional broker FalconX. The transfer, valued at approximately $3.2 million, was executed on August 6, 2026.
The receiving address has a history of transfers to deposits at FalconX, according to Arkham data. This activity follows the disclosure of a flaw in Coldcard's firmware that allowed attackers to steal up to $114 million from vulnerable wallets since July 30.
The wallet in question had received its coins on July 16, 2011, when Bitcoin was trading near $10. The transaction was included in block 961331 at 20:14 UTC and combined four inputs from the wallet with two smaller inputs from other addresses.
