Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Moves $3.2 Million in Cryptocurrency
A dormant Bitcoin wallet that has been inactive since 2011 suddenly moved nearly 50 BTC, worth approximately $3.2 million, to a SegWit address.
The original wallet received 49.97 BTC on July 16, 2011, when Bitcoin traded near $10.
After remaining untouched for over 15 years, the coins increased dramatically in value, surviving multiple Bitcoin bull markets and crashes.
The transfer was confirmed in Bitcoin block 961331 at 20:14 UTC on August 6.
The receiving wallet has been active for years and has previously transferred funds to addresses identified as FalconX deposit wallets, but there is currently no evidence showing that the newly moved 50 BTC was deposited with FalconX or sold.
