Dormant Bitcoin Whale Stirs After 12-Year Slumber
A dormant Bitcoin wallet that had not moved for over 12 years has finally been transferred to a new personal wallet. The transfer, which occurred on August 10, involved 26.96 BTC worth approximately $1.76 million at the time of transfer.
The coins were purchased in January 2014 at around $803 per BTC, resulting in an unrealized gain of about 7,975 percent. This means that if the owner had bought the same amount of Bitcoin in 2014 and sold it now, they would have made a profit of approximately $1.73 million.
The transfer itself was minimal, with a network fee of just 0.00000176 BTC or around $0.11 at the time. This is particularly noteworthy given that moving such a large amount of Bitcoin typically incurs significant fees.
