Dormant Bitcoin Whales Stir After 12-Year Slumber
Four dormant Bitcoin wallets, inactive for over 12 years, have been reactivated in recent days. The wallets, created in early 2014, transferred a total of 114.39 BTC, with one wallet returning a staggering 7,746 percent profit.
The transactions occurred between August 6 and 11, with the largest transfer coming from a wallet that had not been touched since February 2014. The coins were moved to new multisig wallets that support P2SH scripts, with some market participants warning of potential selling pressure if long-term holders begin taking profits.
While the transfer size is relatively small compared to global Bitcoin liquidity, some analysts view this as a warning signal ahead of possible price declines. Past cases have shown that activity by long-time holders has often preceded market downturns rather than leading to immediate surges.
