Dormant Satoshi-Era Wallet Awakens with $47.7M BTC Transfer
A Bitcoin wallet from 2010 has moved 600 BTC after 16 years of dormancy, sparking attention to one of the market's favorite on-chain signals.
The wallet, which dates back to a time when Bitcoin mining rewards were still 50 BTC per block and the network was tiny compared to today, transferred the funds into two Native SegWit addresses.
On-chain data shows that there is no confirmed evidence of the coins being sent to centralized exchange deposit wallets, suggesting that this may be part of ordinary custody housekeeping rather than a sale.
The movement of old coins is often watched closely by analysts as it can indicate whether long-term holders are losing conviction in the market. However, this latest move should not be taken as proof of a market dump.
