Dormant Wallets Awaken, Stirring $40M in BTC
Six dormant Bitcoin wallets that had been inactive for over a decade have suddenly become active, moving a combined 553.59 BTC worth approximately $40.15 million.
The wallets, which were last active in 2011, 2012, and 2014, made transactions ranging from small test transfers to larger amounts, sparking speculation about the owners' intentions.
The sudden movement of these funds coincides with renewed interest in early Bitcoin history and ongoing legal battles over assets believed to be linked to Satoshi Nakamoto. Two of the wallets are potentially connected to Noah Doe, a plaintiff in a case seeking to recover Bitcoin wallets thought to be owned by the pseudonymous creator.
Galaxy Research identified the transactions and noted that no immediate exchange deposits have been confirmed, leaving the ultimate destination of the funds unclear.
