Dubai-Based Emirates Embraces Cryptocurrency for Flight Bookings
Emirates has partnered with Crypto.com to allow passengers to book flights using cryptocurrency. This move reflects the growing demand for digital payments in the airline industry, according to Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim.
The integration is powered by Crypto.com's Dubai entity, which was granted a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) licence by the Central Bank of the UAE. When customers reach the payment step of their booking, they will see Crypto.com Pay as an option at checkout on emirates.com and the Emirates App.
Passengers will need to complete the payment from their wallet in the Crypto.com app before being redirected back to the App for their booking confirmation and e-ticket. This move supports Dubai's Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to make 90% of all financial transactions digital by the end of 2026.
