Dubai Duty Free Goes Crypto: SHIB Payments Now Available

Dubai Duty Free has become the first airport retailer in the Middle East to introduce regulated digital payment solutions. The company has enabled the Crypto.com Pay gateway at its physical locations across DXB and DWC airports, as well as on its e-commerce platform.

The system supports Shiba Inu (SHIB) alongside 29 other digital assets, executing instant conversion and final settlement in United Arab Emirates dirhams (AED). This means customers can select their funds in tokens such as SHIB, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), or Dogecoin (DOGE) to settle their purchases.

The transaction mechanism eliminates price fluctuation risk for the retail establishment. The gateway calculates the exchange rate instantly within the user's mobile app and settles the received balance exclusively in United Arab Emirates dirhams (AED).
