Dubai Duty Free Now Accepts Cryptocurrency Payments at Multiple Locations
Dubai Duty Free has become the latest major retailer to accept cryptocurrency payments for purchases. According to the Government of Dubai Media Office, eligible customers can now use their Crypto.com accounts to pay for goods at three locations: Dubai International Airport (DXB), Al Maktoum International Airport (AMIA), and on the company's online store.
The new payment method is available exclusively to UAE residents through Crypto.com's regulated platform. Transactions are processed securely, with settlement in UAE dirhams (AED) to Dubai Duty Free.
This move reflects Dubai Duty Free's commitment to expanding digital payment options while supporting the city-state's ambition to become a global leader in digital commerce. The service is part of the Dubai Cashless Strategy under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to make 90% of financial transactions across the public and private sectors cashless by the end of 2026.
