Duel Casino Fails to Freeze Hack-Linked Funds Despite Evidence
A recent Coldcard vulnerability exploit has led to the theft of over 1,300 BTC. The stolen funds have allegedly moved to Duel Casino, an internet gambling platform that allows users to bet with cryptocurrency. However, Galaxy Digital's Head of Firmwide Research, Alex Thorn, criticized Duel Casino for refusing to freeze nearly 230 ETH linked to the hack.
Duel Casino requires official law enforcement confirmation before blocking user balances, even if there is evidence linking them to the hack. Thorn labeled this inaction as 'outrageous' and 'complicit in theft', arguing that no police report would arrive until Monday at best.
A Duel team member identified as Korra on X defended the platform's policy, stating that they cannot freeze user funds based solely on a third party's claim. Korra offered to make an exception if the alleged victim sent a message from a 'hacked' address and signed an affidavit claiming they were hacked.
